Brass and glass pendant light by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors. Sweden 1960s

Height: 15 Centimeters; Width: 40 Centimeters; Depth: 40 Centimeters
Rare pendant light in brass and thick glass by Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors glassworks. A sturdy brass construction with a 3 light bulb socket of E15 size. The brass construction is covered on top and bottom with thick crystal plates and twelve cup shaped glass decorations around the edge. The ground glass give a stunning light effect from all directions. Works just as well hung low as high.

This is a heavy light, over 8 kilos, so shipping is slightly higher.

Swedish glass and lighting designer Carl Fagerlund was born in 1915. He trained at Stockholm A.C.S., qualifying as a design teacher. From 1946 to 1980, he worked as a designer at the venerable Swedish glassworks Orrefors, renowned for its high-quality crystal and art glass.

Swedish glassworks Orrefors derives its name from the forested, Småland village where it was founded—a site of artisanal and industrial production since the 18th century. In the 20th century, the name Orrefors would go on to become synonymous with fine Swedish glass.
