Pendant light “Zenith” by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup. Denmark 1960s

Height 40 cm, width 14 cm, depth 14 cm.

The Zenith was created in 1967 and it is is one of Hammerborg’s most famous designs. It consists of three cylinders, a structure Hammerborg loved exploring with. The black cylinder is painted pink on the inside, which creates a warm and pleasant glow on the lamp and the ceiling. The Zenith is slim and tall compared to the Tunika (another variation on the three cylinder concept that won the iF Product Design Award).

Good condition with only minor scratches. Standard E27 socket.

Johannes (Jo) Hammerborg grew up right outside of Randers, in a regular middle-class family. He trained as a silversmith, participated in Denmark’s resistance and struggle for freedom in 1940-45 as a saboteur, studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and worked as a silversmith at Georg Jensen. In 1957, he was hired as a chief designer at the lamp manufacturer Fog & Mørup, where he worked until 1980.

I try to make the pictures reflect the true look, color and condition of the piece. If you have any questions or want additional photos please send a PM before buying.
