Table light “Trixel” by Bent Karlby for Lyfa. Denmark 1960s

Description

Trixel is a large (65 cm tall) table light created by Bent Karlby in the 1960s. It consists of two different size semi-circular spheres made of milky plastic. The light takes on a soft spreading pleasant glow when lit. Great functionality as well as decorative. The foot is decorated with a brass stave.

There are some small marks on the foot and a very fine, almost invisible crack of a few cm at the top. This is well reflected in the price.

Standard E27 light bulb.

Danish architect-designer Bent Karlby was born in Århus in 1912 and graduated from his hometown’s technical school around 1932. During World War II, he joined the Danish resistance movement, contributing to the illegal Danish Journal and assisting Dansk-Svensk refugees. Most of Karlby’s lighting designs for Lyfa possess a “Space Age” aesthetic expressed in metal, acrylic, or glass.

Karlby passed away in 1998.

I try to make the pictures reflect the true look, color and condition of the piece. If you have any questions or want additional photos please send a PM before buying.
