XL aluminum pendant light by Carl Thore for Granhaga Metall. Sweden 1970s

Sold Out

Height: 22 centimeters, Width: 50 centimeters, Depth: 50 centimeters

XL pendant light (50 cm) in brushed aluminum with a matte black inner reflector and great light effect at the top. This clever solution makes the center of the light projection a soft shine from just the light bulb and a wide soft shine from the dome-like larger reflector with a white inside This is a very rare light from Carl Thore. I have bought, sold and seen many Carl Thore lights through the years but I have never seen this one before.

It has some scratches and stains along the top surface of the shade and also some damage to the paint where the bolts are attached on the underside, as seen in the last pictures. There are no dents to the shade.

Standard E27 light bulb socket.

The real name of the designer known as Carl Thore was Sigurd Lindkvist, and he was born in 1916 in Åmal in Sweden’s Dalsland. After working for a lighting firm called Luko, in 1961 Lindkvist joined Granhaga Metallindustri, for whom he designed lights and was also head of sales, remaining with the company until he retired in around 1981. Lindkvist adopted the pseudonym Carl Thore for his Granhaga light designs on the spur of the moment when he was presenting the lights to a client who asked the identity of the designer. “Carl Thore,” Lindkvist blurted out, these being his two middle names.

I try to make the pictures reflect the true look, color and condition of the piece. If you have any questions or want additional photos please send a PM before buying.
